Welcome to Bälans Pilates Studio, set within Perth Airport Business Park in Perth, Scotland. We welcome everyone, and our space is fully accessible — wheelchair access and accessible toilet facilities included.
Established in 2005, Bälans is the only studio in Scotland offering Matwork Pilates, BalleBarreFit classes, and the full range of Pilates Apparatus: Reformer, Tower, Chair, Cadillac, Spine Corrector, Ped a Pull, Ladder Barrel, CoreAlign, MOTR, Orbit, and Spring Wall.
Joakim — Swedish-born, Australian-raised, UK-based since 1998 — is a former Army Reserve Commando, Bondi Beach Surf Life Saver, and Physical Training Instructor turned 2nd Generation Pilates Teacher and Sports Therapist. His client list spans elite polo, dressage, motor racing, and hockey athletes, plus professional dancers.
All our Pilates teachers are highly experienced and hold 3rd Generation Pilates certification through Lolita's Legacy, trained directly by Joakim.
That international background shows in everything here — from the décor to the techniques he teaches. Joakim still trains and travels internationally to stay, as he puts it, a "world citizen."
The studio itself is a fusion of cultures, filled with treasures gathered from his travels. Rich wood, soothing aromas, and custom-built furniture set a calm tone, with earthy interior colours designed to help you find your own balance.
Even the signage is in Swedish — Joakim's native tongue, and the source of our name. Balans means "balance," chosen to create a space where you can reconnect and live a healthier, more balanced life.

We are the largest Pilates Studio in Scotland and the only place to offer group Matwork and Apparatus Pilates Classes in Perthshire.
Our friendly receptionists are available from 9.15am to 12.15pm and then 5.45pm to 8.15pm on class days. Outside those hours please email us any enquiries.
We operate on an appointment only basis to allow us to concentrate on your appointment without interruption.

Pilates
Our Pilates Instructors are highly qualified, and experienced in the Pilates Method. Bälans Pilates Studio is the only Comprehensive Pilates space in Perthshire. With two Apparatus Pilates Studios and a separate Matwork Pilates Studio we are the largest Pilates studio in Scotland. It is modern, warm and well equipped with everything you need to practice fun, safe Pilates. We specialise in Private, 1:1 Pilates and additionally offer small Group Pilates Classes. Classes are segregated into levels of ability from Beginners Pilates Classes to Advanced Pilates classes. This keeps everyone motivated, appropriately challenged and practicing safely.
We offer something for everyone from those who wish to take part in Pilates classes, those who want private Pilates training and even those who want to join a Pilates Instructors Course.
