Studio Spotlight: Kayte Brook-Simpson
At the beginning of 2016, our BarreConcept class gained an elegant and graceful client. Although she had originally started attending to build her core strength and flexibility, she soon realized that it was “the best group exercise classes” she’d ever done. She found that the class was a great fit for clients of any shape, any size, and any fitness level because of the genuine welcome and support they receive from other clients, but especially from the instructors. In her own words, “I will never forget the encouragement I received on the day I first walked through the door looking like G.I Jane, due to shaving my hair off in prep for chemo. In an instant I went from feeling vulnerable and self-conscious to feeling supported and embraced.” Like each of our group classes at the studio, the BarreConcept Class on Monday nights is like its own community and support system.
She explains that the Barre Instructors are what makes the class stand out too. Their consideration, making every client feel at ease, and tailoring the classes based on each level of varying ability in the room, they make each week new and exciting. She loves the class for the mix of cardio, ballerina strength, and elegance that she has built since she began taking classes. We can attest that her movements are every bit as beautiful and graceful as she is.
To see Kayte in class every Monday has been a testament to her love of the BarreConcept Class, the unique opportunity the class gives to the Perthshire community, and the importance of introducing your friends to the studio and Pilates. We fully support her in her battle against cancer and hope that she’ll be able to plan that trip to Australia soon.
