Studio Spotlight: Christina Benson
In 2005, Marian F. and Elaine D. who participate in our Wednesday Night Level 3 Matwork Class began attending classes in our studio. Since then, as the studio has grown, added classes, and changed locations, they have done the same; continuing to enjoy Pilates with the studio. This year, Bälans is celebrating its 12th year of providing Pilates and Massage Therapies in Perth and we are celebrating by sharing the story of Bälans through the stories of 12 of our clients. From today until the end of the year, we will be sharing these spotlights to celebrate the success of the studio because of the success of our clients.
Our first spotlight, Christina Benson, joined the studio in 2012 after being recommended by a friend. Having been living in New Zealand where she attended ‘awesome’ Pilates classes she was on the hunt for a good Studio on her return to the UK. Christina found her place at Bälans in the Level Three Matwork Class along with Marian and Elaine. Christina’s interest in Pilates began with the desire to improve her core strength. Both in New Zealand and in the UK, she has selected classes that focus on correct positioning and have well trained instructors, making our level 3 class just right for her.
Christina must have enjoyed her sessions here because in 2015 she even managed to introduce her husband Drew to Pilates and he has been a vocal devotee on Monday nights ever since. It’s been great to have two doctors in the house for advice and anecdotes. Joakim is almost a doctor in some countries (don’t get sick in those countries), so his medical advice sometimes needs some realism added to it…
Christina says that she has hugely enjoyed the ‘all round fun’ of her experience here at Bälans and we are sad to say goodbye to them both as they have decided that it is time for them to return to New Zealand because of the wonderful work and lifestyle opportunities available to their family.
We hope that their move across the globe is fruitful and that she gets the chance to ride a horse like she’s been wanting to.
